LEARN ABOUT HOW NEON SIGNS STARTED
Neon has been around for a long time and evolved from the previous Geissler tubes that were prominent in the late 1800s. Because the pressure of the gasses within reduced with usage, these were not suited for illumination.
Do neon signs break easily?
The Moore tube followed, which employed nitrogen or carbon dioxide as well as a pressure-maintenance system. In the early 1900s, Moore Tubes were used.
In 1900, a Frenchman named Georges Claude began manufacturing neon as a byproduct of their air liquefaction method. He then showed two lengths of 12 meter long bright red neon tubes for the first time at the Paris Motor Show in 1910, demonstrating the first lamps.
The discovery and usage of phosphors in tubes, as well as the inert gas argon, has enabled the development of a wide range of colors. The technique of making a neon sign has substantially improved since the introduction of the first discharge lamp, resulting in a life expectancy of over 40,000 hours.

PROCESS OF MAKING NEON TUBE
A neon sign is manufactured from a glass tube that is twisted to the desired form or shape. Each end of the tube is then welded with electrodes.
The glass part is then linked to a machine that performs the bombardment. The segment is partially emptied of air before being heated to around 250 degrees centigrade during the blasting process.
The portion is continuously vacuumed out as the temperature is reached, eliminating contaminants from the tube. Once this is done, the tube is refilled with either neon or argon gas at a predetermined pressure.
At this point the tubes are sealed and taken out of the processing equipment. After the tubes have been bombarded, they are aged in, which assures even color distribution and tube quality over the length of the tube.
As part of our quality control testing process, the tubes used in our signs are aged for 24 hours to ensure a high-quality, long-lasting end product.
